The creation of this piece was inspired by the call for submission by Boreal Zine for Rise Up: Melt Down. This started from an inspiring day at the National Gallery in Ottawa this past January. I was inspired so much by the art, that when I looked at the snow on the ceiling of the museum I could see paintings in it.

This was the final piece that was submitted.
My grandma taught me to crochet when I was little- and by that I mean she taught me how to make a chain and I gave up after that. I got more into in my 20s/the 2020s. I tried to teach myself to knit but just could never get the rhythm down. This year I have taken wonderful classes on knitting and loom weaving! I look forward to using these skills for more multi-medium projects in the future (maybe even cyanotype printing on fabrics I make?)

I found out recently that on my older Nikon I can do multiple exposures right in the camera. What this means is I turn on “multiple exposure” as a setting on the camera, take two photos consecutively, and the camera double exposes them digitally in the camera.
I’ve been having a lot of fun scanning all types of things and then making digital arts with them!
I did some experimenting recently with cutting out words and letters from packaging I was going to recycle.
Recently I bought the supplies for cyanotype printing to play with. I did a couple experiments at home and then also away from home. Turns out it’s much easier when you have access to a sink/water!
Experiment One: At home in moderate UV with objects behind and above the glass
Further experiments: trying wet cyanotype. This involves spraying the fabric with vinegar and other substances so that it is wet when exposed to the sun.

March 12th, 2026 was the opening of the More Than A Mirror Exhibition at SLC Arts. It was a wonderful evening of engaging with the community and art, and getting to know more about artists through engaging with their work.
